Itinerary
Upon your arrival in Thiruvananthapuram, you will be taken to your hotel. You can spend the first day at leisure. You will stay overnight in Thiruvananthapuram.
On the second day of your journey to Kerala, you will travel to Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple and Napier Museum. However, make sure to visit the museum on days other than a Monday or a Wednesday afternoon since the place remains closed at this time. Also, avoid visiting the area on national holidays.if you are fond of art and culture, then you must take a trip to the Sree Chithra Art Gallery which is a part of the Napier Museum. Here you will find the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and Nicholas Roerich. Also, you would be fascinated by the collection of bronze idols, old ornaments, and a temple chariot, if you are a lover of ancient artefacts. You will enjoy taking a stroll around one of the oldest zoos in India which is a part of the museum. You will have a free afternoon. You will put in Thiruvananthapuram at night.

The third day of your Kerala backwater tour is reserved for a full excursion to Kanyakumari.If you are interested in the Hindu mythology, then you would want to visit the Bhagavathy temple and Suchindram temple present here, which are two of the fifty-one Shakti Peethas. You will reach the Vivekananda Rock Memorial on a ferry. The 133 feet tall statue of the Tamil saint cum poet Thiruvalluvar will be a heartening sight. The Gandhi Memorial is another attraction that you should see.It will be a delightful sight to watch the spectacular sunrise and sunset at Kanyakumari. After you return to your hotel, you will spend the night in the hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.

On the fourth day of your journey to Kerala, you will be taken from Thiruvananthapuram to Kovalam. You can enjoy the coastal beauty while taking a stroll down the beachside. The Halcyon Castle and the salons for Ayurvedic treatments will fascinate you on your tour to the south. Beach resorts in Kovalam, offering Ayurvedic treatment form a significant tourist destination in this place. You can retire to your hotel room, where you will put up till the morning. The next morning you can pursue your sightseeing around Kovalam.

The fifth day of your Kerala backwater tour will be entirely dedicated to relaxation at the beautiful Kovalam beach. You can explore the three beaches in Kovalam, namely, the Lighthouse Beach, Eve’s Beach or the Hawa Beach, and the Samudra Beach. The rocky promontory at the Lighthouse Beach and the blue waters at Eve’s Beach are places of major tourist attraction. You can test your fishing skills with the local fishermen at the Samudra Beach. The Vizhinjam seaport three kilometres away offers another alternative for sightseeing with its temples, churches and a mosque. You will spend your night at Kovalam.

In the morning you will be taken from Kovalam to Alappuzha. The picturesque town, crisscrossed with canals offers you backwaters, beaches, and lagoons, which are any traveller’s dream. You can enjoy a cruise in the backwaters which will prove an unforgettable experience. If you are visiting the place in August, you can watch the Nehru Trophy Boat Race held on the Punnamada Lake on the second Saturday of August, every year. Another significant place that you would want to visit is Kuttanad, that is home to endless paddy fields and lush green coconut palms. At Alappuzha, you will board a houseboat in Kerala’s backwaters. You will particularly enjoy your houseboat trip from Alappuzha to Kumarakom. You will come across many villages. You will stay overnight in the houseboat.

On the seventh day of your Kerala backwater tour,you will be taken to your hotel in Kumarakom,where you will have a free day.You can use this day to plan the rest of your trip and make a list of places that you are yet to visit.The shores of the freshwater Vembanad Lake that runs along Kumarakom will offer you a great place to spend your day while appreciating the wide variety of flora and fauna.You can take a tour of the nearby areas and farms where fruits like banana,mango,jackfruit,and pineapple grow in abundance.You can also take a tour of the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and explore the numerous species of the local and migratory birds.In the evening you can take a short canoe trip for bird watching.You will stay in Kumarakom,and resume your journey the next morning.

In the morning you will be taken from Kumarakom to Periyar National Park.You will presumably have sufficient time to observe and explore the wildlife in the Periyar animal sanctuary.The variety of mammals and birds in the animal sanctuary will pleasantly surprise you.Some of the animals that you are most likely to see are wild boar,tiger,sambar,leopard,wild dog,langur,and monkeys.The rich variety of flora in the Periyar sanctuary is as bewildering as the fauna.Banyan,orchid,teakwood,rosewood,tamarind,etc.add to the beauty of the animal sanctuary,and you would find it as appealing as the wildlife.You can later enjoy a scenic boat cruise in the Periyar Lake,and if lucky you might get the chance of watching different animals on the shore.After this long and tiring day,you will retire to your hotel room and prepare yourself for the journey that awaits you the next day.

You will be taken to Munnar from Periyar via road.You will spend the rest of your day at leisure at Munnar.Watching the vast tea plantations in this area will be a pleasure to your eyes.Anamudi,the highest peak in South India,and the different wildlife sanctuaries form significant places of attraction.Include them in your list and make preparations for the same.You will spend the night in Munnar and continue your journey the following day.

You have an entire day free in Munnar.Today,you can visit the nearby areas of Munnar.Atukkad Waterfalls and Chithirapuram are the two nearby places that you must visit.Floriculture Centre is another destination that you will find attractive due to its variety of flower and herbal plants species.An elephant ride at the Elephant Arrival Spot will fill your day with fun and frolic.Top Station would give you a spectacular view of the Western Ghats.Also,Munnar is home to numerous waterfalls and animal sanctuaries,and you can visit one these to make your day a memorable one.After returning to your hotel room,you will spend the rest of your night in Munnar.

On the eleventh day of your Kerala Backwater Tour with Munnar,you will be taken to Kochi from Munnar via road.You can travel around the city and bear witness to the impressions left on Kochi’s history by everyone who has visited this place.Optionally watch a Kathakali dance show in the evening which will lift your spirits and prepare you for the trip ahead.You will spend the night in Kochi.
You will begin your tour of Kochi in the morning,and you will be taken to some of the favorite tourist spots in Kochi including the Portuguese churches,mosques,and temples,along with the Jewish synagogue.You will have a free afternoon.You can either choose to rest or visit some of the other popular destinations in Kochi like the Hill Palace,Kochi Fort, Cherai Beach,Kochi International Marina,and the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.You will stay overnight in your hotel in Kochi.
